Shakun Tea Industries was established in the year 1983 in Kathmandu under the proprietorship of Mr. Ashwini Agrawal who has a vast experience of selling C.T.C and orthodox teas. His father Mr. C.L. Agrawal also was a tea businessman in Biratnagar. Mr. C.L Agrawal established his business in 1950.

Mr. Ashwini Agrawal is also the founder member of Nepal Tea Association, the national body of tea traders and packegers and is since 1998 holds the President's portfolio.

Currently the company is employing 52 workers. Mr. Arun Agrawal handles the National Marketing division and Mr. Ashok Agrawal handles the retail showroom "Teenpati Tea Shop" which is located at Dharmapath, Newroad, Kathmadu, while the orthodox tea business is managed by his son Mr. Sumesh Agrawal , who is the third generation enterprenur in the field of tea

He has also started manufacturing high altitude orthodox teas in different factories in Illam and Fikkal catering to the world demand of high quality orthodox tea is comparable to darjelling tea in flavour

He has been able to craete a dent in the Indian Market as well as Europe & American Market

Shakun Tea Industries was established with the aim to produce a tea packet with the best variety of teas from Nepal with a punch of Ilam teas blended to give a full bodied cup with a typical Darjeeling Aroma. This packet was branded "Teenpate Special". This is supposed to be a common man's tea in this part of the world where people go for an appetizing strong cup of tea.

After immense success in the domestic market with "Teenpate Special" , Shakun Tea Launched a packet under the brand name "Teenpate Nepal Caddy" to target the international market. The packet offers Darjeeling high grown TGFOP with a blend of Nepalese High grown TGFOP to give satisfaction for those who take their tea without milk and sometimes without sugar. Yet another high quality brand in extremely attractive packing "Teenpate Ilam Caddy" was launched in Jan 2000 targeting the international market.

Shakun Tea Industries is also exporting Finest Loose Teas of Nepal and Darjeeling to various parts of the world. With increase in the demand of gift packing, Shakun Tea industries also started to pack high quality teas in attractive Traditional Nepalese Gift packings.
